Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) is a systematic inquiry into teaching and learning in higher education, bridging the gap between learning theories and teaching practices. SoTL allows us as instructors to learn more about what is happening in our classes, and to adjust our practice based on real evidence.
While often seen as a solitary research activity, SoTL at NYU has been a constant stream of activities and opportunities share what is happening in our classes, and to learn from the classrooms of others. Our vibrant SoTL community brings together members of the whole university around classroom practice, research, and student success.
We have held symposia, workshops, and Teachtalks, and we continue to support SoTL efforts with the Teaching Advancement Grant.
We also have a vibrant space for communication, updates, and conversations. We hope you’ll join us as we continue these and other SoTL efforts!
